Following a worsening problem with Win 10 freezing when resuming from Sleep, I decided to use the Restore function to take Windows back to just prior to the date when the issue first occurred. The last time the problem had occurred and I had to manually turn off the PC I had several MS Word documents open, some of which I had not saved at all no file name and others that may not have been saved after any alteration.

I assumed, incorrectly, that I would still be able to recover both any damaged files and unsaved files after the Restore. Following the Restore, when I went to recover these, there is no record of them. The files presented to me by the autorecover feature are all files from several weeks ago — presumably from the date that I restored the system back to.

Thanks for your feedback. Well obviously. Lots of things are obvious in retrospect. That doesn’t help me one iota though, and in no way does it answer the question. Unless in Word options the auto save function was set, or Win file history was on, or you had a third party imaging program that saved on the fly, you have lost your unsaved data. Auto save is on in Word. Normally I have been able to recover both unsaved filese and previously saved files that had been altered but changes not saved.
